Strange Things Cats Eat

Speaking of Mars eating Styrofoam reminded me of my cat, Tiffany (1992-2006) who used to love the taste dryer sheets, like Bounce. She would dive into a basket of clean laundry and dig for the sheet. Once she got it, she would start chewing it up. We had to make sure to "rescue" it before she got it, as I am sure that stuff would NOT be good caught up in a kitty's intestine!

I post this on here once a year or so:

If one of your cats is a chewer or a plant nibbler, do not keep Kalanchoes for houseplants. One tiny nibble, if swallowed, can be fatal to cats.

I have one kitty who loves to nibble my plants. I cannot even keep spider plants because she eats them down to nubs. Even though I love the look of pretty Kalanchoes, I won't have one in the house because of how terribly toxic they are to cats. It's just not worth the risk to me.

Dieffenbachia is also extremely poisonous. Actually, I had a list a long time ago of plants that were poisonous to cats, and it was about 3 pages long!! It seemed that every plant I've ever heard of is poisonous to cats! Needless to say-I don't have many plants at home! I keep my plants alive and happy at the office, and my cats happy and healthy at home!

Thank you so much for posting this. I was thinking about getting one and had no idea they were poison. you just saved 5 cats and no telling how many others.

Oh wow! Sure glad that I mentioned it too,for your kitties' sake! They are really pretty plants, but I'd rather not have one if it means losing my sweet kitties! Everyone should check the web regarding which plants are poisonous to cats. BTW--WATCH OUT, AS EASTER LILIES ARE ALSO EXTREMELY POISONOUS TO CATS ALSO! And, many folks will have lilies in their house this week, or next!
