My cat chews/shreads paper

I have 2 kittens that I got from a shelter at the same time about 5 months ago -- Lady and Scamp. They are very different in appearance and personality. Lady likes to chew paper. I can't leave any papers, magazines, letters, etc. around where she can get to them. She also shreads cardboard boxes and she has chewed holes in the cat food bags although her food bowl is never empty. Is there any way to break her of this habit. she is fairly high strung and loves to fetch which she taught herself to do with me. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why some cat love paper. If you can catch her in the act a Squirt gun works well, some feel it's not very nice but better then her getting a hold of something thats needed and being upset with her. Also if you can catch her in the act shaking a can or something like that with coins in it will sometimes be enough to stop them. it's just hard to catch them. You could also try to get those cardboard scratching things at walmart or where ever they mite help. Hope you can find something that will work. if you find something that helps post it, it mite help someone else. Goodluck.
