I Need Help, Suggestions, Whatever

I am having problems with diaherria with 3 of my 5 cats. One of them, Dusk, has been having watery stools now for nearly 2 months. He's been to the vet, had blood tests (all normal), stools tested twice (negative both times), & been treated with a liquid medication twice (no help).

Lazarus just tested positive for round worm, but Dusk & Clarisse (the other one) were both negative. Of course, I'll get Lazarus treated again (he was when we got him), but I need help for Dusk. He's got watery stools, is losing weight, & beginning to show signs of weakening. Dusk is only 9 years old - not exactly young, but not old either.

Pumpkin is no good - I can't get him to eat it. I've been trying a powder I got from the vet on his food, with no results. I'm beginning to panic. I just lost my 18 yr old cat in January - I can't bear to lose Dusk too, so soon after my Baby Kitty.

Any suggestions would be welcome & much appreciated.

Oh - & yes - they are the same Dusk & Lazarus that are on this week's picture page, sleeping together.

Thanks,
Sandy (SheCat852)

For diarrhea, I have given 1/4 to 1/3 tablet Imodium twice a day (depends on size of cat).

Once the stool firms up for a couple days, I would wean off by giving the dose once a day. If stool still firm for a few days, I would cut the dose in half (very tiny piece) once a day. If successful, stop it after a few days.

Thanks for the suggestion, but my vet said he didn't feel immodium was proper for the cats. I specifically asked him about that, after I read an article on it.

I got the roundworm medication last week for Dusk & Clarisse, as well as Lazarus. Clarisse seems to have some improvement. Dusk does too, although his stools are still soft, but not watery. Maybe it was just a parasite problem. I'll be checking in with my vet on Monday.

Poor guy, he's always hungry. But I'll be checking his weight tomorrow. Maybe I'll see some improvement.
